MAPUANA REED
meet
I’m Mapuana Reed, a photographer turned podcaster on a mission to empower women through storytelling. After 15 years of capturing the beauty and transformation of women through my lens, I’ve transitioned into podcasting to take those powerful stories behind the mic. As the host of The Mapuana Reed Show, I focus on sharing the journeys of women who are embracing their true selves and striving for more in life. My podcast is a space for connection, inspiration, and growth, where I bring to life the stories that remind us all of the strength and resilience within. My journey from photography to podcasting is rooted in the same passion: helping women see and celebrate their own unique journeys.
Curious about my past as a photographer?
Here’s a tidbit.
Before I transitioned into podcasting, I was a photographer who focused on capturing the essence of my culture through my Legacy Cultural Portraits. These portraits were deeply personal to me, as they were inspired by my upbringing and the influence of my grandmother, Vaitai, who helped raise me. Growing up, our walls were adorned with portraits of my great-grandmother and great-grandfather, which fueled my desire to preserve our cultural heritage. Through my photography, I aimed to create similar portraits for other families, allowing them to pass down these treasured images to future generations. My work was all about honoring our roots and ensuring that our stories live on.
